The Elephant Balloon

The Elephant Balloon

The Elephant balloon; the Elephant balloon
How do you lift the weight?
How do you find the time; the power divine?
To lift that Elephant so high.  You fool.

And what is the purpose; the purpose
Of lifting an Elephant?
Of finding the place in the scrapes of sky
To reside, severed from the surface

Why go ever so high; ever so high
Don’t you frighten the Elephant?
Above buildings and moors; quags of mire
The Elephant has no desire for such life

The Elephant balloon; the Elephant balloon
Why won’t you drop the weight?
Why won’t you rest?  For a day, just rest
Your mind is racing; for no good, you’re pacing
The ground needs facing; My dear Elephant balloon.
