Upon Takeoff

Upon takeoff, we are all god’s children
With his height, his grace; peering down to ground
All our earth-bound siblings – those poor, clipped wings
And we above casting ire[s] down below

We claim the sight of this great almighty
Talking in the miles of man’s squandered lands
These claims, his folly, to wall creation
After takeoff, we conspire perception

The earth ours, we deem, we gifted with wings
And resolve to redraw these vanities
Inspired by our divine equity –
Then place clouds like sheets; our own folly

And as we land, we divine the divine
Is no thing but ourselves, we mortal men
resolve to resign our almighty pens
To those high above with new, divine plans
