Aizu Autumn

What is it in a man
that loves a mountain
That loves and loathes feeling small
and insignificant in its presence
What is it in the view
from base to summit
that implores the scale
The sky – blue; the trees – gold and amber
the bark clawed and marked
the rock – green, slick with moss
All call man – His awe
